Willis Orchard Company
Reviews and Complaints
Very dissapointing quality of two blueberry bushes I purchased fro Willis.
I did not know wht I should expect for quality when ordering blueberry bushes that 2 - 3 ft tall and about 2 - 3 years old. I received one Brightwell and one Tifblue bush and they arrived with one single 3 ft main cane with a few leaves on the top and each had a couple of short branches at the base of the plants. in addition the Brightwell arrived with a broken top to the cane and a broken branch near the top.
I later purchased another Brightwell bush 2 - 3 year old 2 - 3 ft from another Orchard company, What I received was one beautiful and full of healthy branches all greater than 1 1/2 foot long and loaded with healthy leaves.
Had I not received such a beautifull bush with the same specifications and similar price from a different supplier this would not have been submitted.
Buyer beware.
CATASTROPHIC EXPERIENCE FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR!
Yes, I was contacted, was told that the photo of damaged tree will be showed to responsible person AND NOTHING HAPPENED FOR OVER 2 MONTHS. THIS IS BASICALLY END OF THE STORY.....
This is second consequtive year with so negative experience, this was replacement for all death trees in 2017 (only one arrive living, died within a months, rest arrived death!)
I wish to give zero!!!! Last years almost entire order I received WAS DEATH TREES......the only living tree died in June 2017. After multiple communication effort I RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT in April 2018 when 4 feet of snow without prior notice!!!!!!! - SEVERELY DAMAGED APRICOT TREE AT THE LOWER TRUNK FROM THE NURSERY (I ordered just one 8 feet apricot as replacement for everything, because I did not have high hopes) that TREE is AGAIN DEATH!!!!!!!! Of note, I have close to 30 beautifully growing fruit trees (from 2017 and 2018 that I ordered from 4 other nurseries).
NEVER EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! I read reviews before my first order in 2017 and I did not take them seriously. My mistake!!!!
First photo cut off the main branch of previously in nursery damaged tree at the bottom on 6/3/2018. Second photo damaged trunk upon arrival.
Since, this was replacement for entire order in 2017, WILLIS ORCHARD DUMP ON ME DAMAGED TREE THAT OTHERWISE WOULD NEVER SELL!!!!!!

We ordered 3 trees and 11 grapevines. One tree and 3 vines did not live. My experience in talking with Willis Orchard was good.
Bareroot plants always have a chance of not surviving. We live in Idaho, and when speaking with customer service we were treated very kindly.
Our plants will be replaced, without shipping costs if we return the dead plants. That is only fair so that they know that indeed the plants did not survive. if I do not return the dead plants, I will pay shipping, again only fair. My conversation with customer service was excellent.
She was very friendly and answered all of my questions and gave advice when asked.
The other plants are growing beautifully and are very healthy. I would recommend Willis Orchard.
Dead Grape vine
Purchased four grape vines last fall (2017)----All four arrived in November----followed the planting instructions to the letter exactly as the planting instructions were written-----this spring, one of the 4 (a 3yr black jumbo muscadine) never blossomed-----stem is dead at the ground------Willis will send another vine but I have to pay shipping---they refer me to their policy of not paying shipping for replacement items of less than $17.50----not my fault the vine did not live-----I should not have to pay additional $19.95 to have another vine shipped because the first one did not live---just saying----will purchase elsewhere next time---
3 plants ordered
I received a dead dried out peach tree and a dead useless rasberry bush. Might as well set my money on fire.
Total waste of money and time, I guess I could rip it out of the ground and mail it back and then maybe they could send me something that is not completely dead and dried out, but I have lost enough money to these guys. No wonder they do not have reviews on their website. I recommend buying from anyone else. Check out reviews and return processes for their "guarantee".
If you have to pay to ship it back, factor that into your decision making process.
Their site is not cheap, you definitely do better price wise. Especially if the send you dead dried out sticks like I got.

Waste of hard earned money
I ordered a Mulberry Tree last Spring. I planted the bare root plant according to the included instructions and it never grew.
I immediately asked for a replacement or refund and was told that the there are NEVER any refunds, but if I wished, at my own expense, I could send BACK to Willis the DEAD tree and it's roots. I did that in the Fall. It cost me a small fortune.
They actually DID send me a new tree. I have now paid almost 100.00 for a 4" Mulberry tree if this one lives.
Honestly don't have any idea how this outfit stays in business after reading all the horrible reviews.
Do not buy from this company if you can avoid it, it is a waste of your time and money.

Received my order. Leaves were very wilted.
Healed in to organic soil, but all are dead. Not a happy camper.
Worst. Nursery. Ever.
Do not believe anything these people say or the propaganda on their website. They are frauds.
Ordered $1000 with of trees, significant amount of order maimed by removal of way too much the tap roots prior to shipping. Willis refused refund because they Do Not Do Refunds. Ever. But they're only too happy to charge you a ridiculously high minimum re-shipping fee to make you pay for their incompetence.
Don't be tempted, stay away or join the thousands of unhappy Willis customers. What is really amazing is that they manage to stay in business despite the incredible high negative consumer ratings they receive from the gardening community.
Dead peach trees
Purchased 4 peach trees, 3 cherry trees, and 3 grape vines. Two of the peach trees arrived in bad shape, the roots were dried out and broken.
The trees were dead. Sent e-mail and pictures to Willis Orchard customer service. They have not answered and appear to be a bad company to do business with. Beware they are a disreputable company with poor customer service.
Their website claims to replace bare root plants that die with in a year, but they won't even replace dead trees that they send.
You are better ff buying locally and avoid Willis Orchard. I will not do business with them ever again.
Willis Orchard Company - Catalpa Tree Review
Do not buy from this company! I ordered 4 2-3' purple Catalpa trees.
They sent me 4 trees that had been much taller and chopped off the trunk at about 2 ft. When I asked how I was supposed to grow a tree that was chopped off they would not respond. They admitted that they did not deliver the items I ordered, were difficult to work with, and now I am having to file dispute on my credit card as they will not refund my money as promised. Even though they admitted in several emails that I did not receive what I ordered they will not reimburse me the money I am having to pay to send back their defective trees.
Save yourself the time, money and frustration and buy from a reputable business. If I could give zero stars I would.
Don't waste your money
I ordered an Angel Red pomegranate tree that promptly died after I planted it. Willis sent a replacement tree that I planted immediately per the instructions...seven months ago.
This tree shows absolutely no signs of life despite the rest of my yard being in full leaf/bloom in late May in Southern California. Not one single leaf or other sign of life. When I contacted Willis Orchards, they told me there is no warranty for a replacement tree and gave me attitude on top of it.
What a complete and utter waste of nearly $100. Do your research and read the many, many negative reviews of this company before buying anything.

Lost another customer
First off, I made my order last Fall (2016). Maybe around two months later I sent them an email asking where my order was.
I shouldn't have to do that. They should have given me an estimate when I placed my order. Second, come spring it turns out that two of the three trees are dead. I've been landscaping for a long time so I know I am not to blame for the death of the trees.
I email them to let them know and they start giving me the third degree. I had to send them pictures of a "scratch test". Then they proceed to tell me I need to pay for shipping. WHAT???
The manager insists that it's not entirely their fault for the dead trees. Yes, it was. My other option was to send them the dead trees back. Well guess who gets to pay to ship those dead trees?
Not them. So, all and all what should have been any easy purchase transaction turned out to be just over 20 emails exchanged. I ended up with a store credit which of course does not include what I paid for shipping. I would stay far away from this company.
If you need Fruit Trees go to Stark Bros. They're awesome.
Great Company....until you have a problem
On my second $300+ order for the month I received a damaged tree. It was an expensive Pakistan Mulberry tree, (about $55).
I called and the woman that always answers the phone said just take a picture of the damage on the box and send it to us. I did and after about two hours I get a nasty note back fro her saying, that"s the box where is a picture of the damaged tree. I called back and asked why she told me just to take a picture of the box. She really didn't have an answer.
I took a picture of the tree and sent that to her. She never responded. What a joke. I have dealt with Starks Orchard and they replaced my entire order when I had a similer problem by just calling them and explaining the damage on the phone.
Save your money.
Still waiting for my tree, or a response. Where is that Southern hospitality when you have a problem?

Love dead trees? Order one from Willis
That's what they send! My wife ordered four from Willis, and they arrived DEAD!
They weren't even alive when they left the post office!
And in fact, a guy in a U-Haul dropped the box off and ran! Not a USPS, Not UPS, Not FedEx. A U HAUL! He didn't even ring the bell!
All I got were four "trees" in a small box, all tied together in a plastic bag that had dried roots with no soil around them.
